BIG FISH Excitement in The Rough Waters of Cesme
September 28th, 2021
Ted Izmir College students' "Sea and Coastal Wastes Become Art in the Hands of Our Children" awareness project, inspired by the waste collected from Urla beaches, continues to support the sea and the environment.
The third of the sculptures, designed from waste collected from the beaches by TED Izmir College students in the Big Fish Tournament for the last two years and exhibited to raise awareness in different locations of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, will be designed at the Big Fish Turkey Tournament to be held in Cesme Marina on September 23-26 this year.
TED Izmir College continues to contribute to projects aimed at protecting the environment with the aim of raising individuals who are susceptible to the destruction and depletion of resources.
TED Izmir College, which uses art as a tool in its efforts to raise awareness in order to leave a livable world for the future, together with ted maritime club students and visual arts students who opened in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of the Sea, will come to life in Cesme Marina between September 23rd and 26th this year, the third of the giant sculptures that it has made in the Big Fish Tournament for the last two years.
Ted Izmir College students collect this waste from the beaches and turn the waste they collect into child figure sculptures in order to draw attention to the consumption of plastics in Turkey and the plastic pollution found on our beaches. With this project, students also want to raise awareness about the zero waste target and ecological sustainability in our country.
Provided scholarships for students
In the previous two tournaments, giant statues created from waste by students were auctioned off for donations to the Turkish Education Association Torch Fund and helped cover the education costs of students studying under the Full Education Scholarship.
