TED History
With the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, education has been one of the areas that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has focused on as a priority and supported all kinds of investments for its development. In 1925, Ataturk called on private individuals and organizations to contribute to education in a speech to parliament. Upon this call, the Turkish Maarif Society, as it is now called, was founded on January 31, 1928, under the leadership of the staffs who founded the Republic. For this reason, our school is the first step in the opening of qualified Turkish schools that Ataturk longs for and which are studying in a foreign language. The Turkish Education Association (TED), whose first president is Turkey's second president, Ismet Inonu, received its torch, the symbol of education, from the Turkish Flag in its emblem, which was adopted in 1929, and its stars from the desire to immortalize respect and love for the five members of the first board of directors. Turkish Education Association started its education activities with its kindergarten, which opened on Gazi Mustafa Kemal Boulevard in 1931.
